A guide to Putty

Putty is a terminal program that lets you access storm (and other remote Linux machines) from Windows. Follow the steps below to use Putty. If you are familiar with other "secure shell" programs beyond Putty, you are welcome to use those instead, but I will assume students working from Windows will use Putty.

1. Download the program Putty by clicking here.

2. Open Putty on Windows

3. Type in "storm.cis.fordham.edu" for the Host Name and "22" for the Port, as shown in the following picture

3.5. You may be asked if you can trust the computer (the "host") you are trying to log into. Press "Yes" when asked

4. Type in your username and password when prompted, as shown in the following picture
